How did we get here? – A letter from the owners of PondMedics, Inc.
PondMedics was birthed out of a passion that both Emily and I have for people and water resources. Not too many folks would consider a civil engineer and fisheries biologist a match made in heaven, but we do! While enjoying a North Texas afternoon dove hunt together in September of 2002, Emily and I began talking about our water resource venture. After months of prayer, research and more prayer, we identified a group of people involved in water resources that needed someone to take them from the planning , permitting, design and engineering of their lake through to the perpetual maintenance that a lake needs. After a brief gestational period, PondMedics was born!
The road that led to today wasn’t easy. In the beginning, there were no start-up loans, no inheritance money or investors. We were just two newlyweds, fresh out of college with student loans and a dream. Emily worked tirelessly at an engineering firm earning enough money to pay our bills while I nurtured our newborn, PondMedics. Our first boat was saved for like a kid puts pennies in a piggy bank. Our first few clients are still with us today and have become wonderful friends. The first years’ revenue was re-invested in the company, purchasing the latest tools to serve our clients’ needs. Finally, by the third year, we were able to take a paycheck, barely above the government’s definition of “poverty.”
The past years have been an absolute blessing to both Emily and I. In the time PondMedics has been operating, our portfolio has grown to managing more than 10,000 acres of water resources annually. We continue to take on clients that develop into close friendships. And, in this time, we’ve been fortunate enough to give birth to and begin raising the next generation of PondMedics in our four precious children.
We look forward to serving your water resource needs and invite you to become a part of the PondMedics family!
From our family to yours,
Trent and Emily Lewis
